Turkey

Turkey is a transcontinental country located mainly on the Anatolian Peninsula in Western Asia, with a smaller portion on the Balkan Peninsula in Southeast Europe. It is bordered by eight countries and surrounded by three distinct seas: the Aegean Sea to the west, the Mediterranean Sea to the south, and the Black Sea to the north. The capital city is Ankara, while Istanbul is its largest city and a major cultural and economic center. Known for its rich history that spans ancient civilizations such as the Hittites, Persians, Greeks, and Romans, Turkey has been a crossroads of culture, trade, and politics throughout history. The modern Turkish Republic was established in 1923, following the fall of the Ottoman Empire. The country has a diverse cultural heritage influenced by various ethnic groups and traditions. Its cuisine, music, and art reflect this blend of influences. Turkey plays an important geopolitical role due to its strategic location, bridging Europe and Asia, and it is a member of several international organizations, including NATO and the G20.
